Announcing 2011!
Date: 5/20/10 By Diane Rhodes Bergman APR
Last night at 10 p.m., we announced our 2011 Season on Facebook. And the operas are (drum roll)….Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado, Verdi's Il Trovatore, Handel's Julius Caesar, and Hydrogen Jukebox, a chamber opera based on the poetry of Allen Ginsberg by Philip Glass.
The 2011 Festival will run May 14 – June 5, 2011. The Mikado, Il Trovatore and Julius Caesar will be performed in Bass Performance Hall.
Hydrogen Jukebox will be in the tiny Sanders Theatre inside the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, so yes, tickets will be very limited. Subscribers to this season, 2010, will have first priority followed by subscribers to the 2011 season. We will sell any remaining tickets to Hydrogen Jukebox to the public, but we are not sure when we will release them. (Hint: if you have single tickets this year, you can always upgrade to season tickets. We don't mind one bit.)
We're doing something different with our single ticket prices next year. We're going to try dynamic pricing. In other words, the price will fluctuate according to the market – kind of like airline tickets. Don't worry season subscribers! We've made sure that you still get the best deal!
Speaking of season tickets, you will notice that our prices have gone down. In the past, we built the fees charged by Bass Hall into the pricing for season tickets. To cover expenses, Bass Hall has had to increase these fees and now will charge us a percentage of all sales, so we need to keep these fees separate. We also lowered them a little more to make sure that you got the best deal when compared to single ticket buyers. We will also be doing Golden Tickets again in 2011!
We will be posting more information about each opera soon and will have all the information posted after the fantastic 2010 Season closes.
PS: I just spent the last two nights at Don Giovanni dress rehearsals. If you don't have tickets call us right now. I personally think this may be our best hit yet. You'll thank me later.
