Fort Worth Opera Board of Directors extend General Director Darren K. Woods' contract to 2016.
Date: 9/21/2010 By Diane Rhodes Bergman APR
The Fort Worth Opera Board of Directors is apparently very happy with the job General Director Darren K. Woods has been doing at Fort Worth Opera. Last night, the officers voted to extend his contract until June 30, 2016.
And for good reason, since Fort Worth Opera ended its 09/10 fiscal year about $23,000 in the black – quite an accomplishment during these financially troubling times. Board Chairperson, Jill Fischer, also referred to the company's growing local and national reputation. "The officers [of the Fort Worth Opera Board of Directors] are delighted to announce the extension in view of the enormous, and growing, success of our Festival both locally and to national recognition."
Since his contract was just extended last year, Darren was surprised and credits others for his success. "Naturally, I am thrilled at the faith our incredible board of trustees has in me and in our team. Although it is my contract that has been extended, it is the entire Fort Worth Opera team – the staff, the board, the chorus, the crew and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra that make it a real success. I think the community is excited that every year, a huge group of people come together to pull off a great feat of magic, which is the Fort Worth Opera Festival. I am thrilled that the board wants me a part of it for a good long time."
