Interesting Fact About The Elixir of Love.
Gaetano Donizetti, composer of The Elixir of Love, had composed many operas by the time he completed The Elixir of Love, which was his 41st opera in 16 years. He could compose operas at the rate of three or four a year. However, even this rate could not compare to the mere two weeks it took him to write the music for Elixir!
Although he may have written The Elixir of Love quickly, the opera is commonly considered by many as one of the greatest examples of comic opera ever written, the highest achievement of its kind.
