Opera lineup for 2013 announced
Date: 5/11/2012 By Mark Lowry, DFW.com
An earlier start in the year and a new venue are major changes announced for the 2013 Fort Worth Opera Festival. The lineup for next year was announced this week just as the 2012 edition kicks off Saturday.
The 2013 festival will run April 20-May 12 to make way for the 14th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at Bass Hall, which begins May 24. Bass Hall is where the bulk of the festival will take place. What’s not going to change is the opera’s commitment to new and rarely produced work, as evidenced by the regional premiere of Tom Cipullo’s "Glory Denied," based on the true story of an American prisoner of war in Vietnam.
