Fort Worth Opera 2011 zine winner in Communication Arts’ Design Annual 2010. Thursday, September 23, 2010 By Martha Martinez-SoteloFort Worth Opera's 2011 zine/brochure was named a winner in the Institutional Brochures category of Communication Arts' Design Annual 2010. It is one of the 187 winning projects selected from 4,564 entries for the best design of the year. This is an awesome award and we have to thank the designers at Matchbox Studio and photographer Allison V. Smith for making our vision happen. This unique zine could only happen by the collaboration of the following:
What our entry said: "The 2011 Fort Worth Opera zine/brochure was designed to reflect the confident, creative, sometimes irreverent, and entirely proud spirit that is FWO. We gave local photographer Allison V. Smith total freedom to capture the spirit of the city, and printed her honest images alongside quirky illustrations and real-life quotations on newsprint paper. The design of the piece supports FWO's creative mission and captures the artistic and down-to-earth personality of Fort Worth and the incredible opera company that's proud to call it home." 40 pages, 53-4X83/4, 4-color plus 1 fluorescent PMS, newsprint with glossy section.
