Opera: Fort Worth company announces two world premieres for 2014
Thursday, May 31, 2012 By Scott Cantrell, The Dallas Morning News

Fort Worth Opera has announced not one, but two world premieres for its 2014 festival. Each, though, already has a history.

Libby Larsen’s A Wrinkle in Time will be a full-length expansion of what originated 21 years ago as a one-act children’s opera. It’s based on the award-winning science-fiction novel of the same name by Madeleine L’Engle, about a teenage girl, her younger brother and their search for their lost scientist father. In addition to the battle between good and evil, with fantastic beings from other worlds, it’s about conformity vs. nonconformity.
