Fort Worth Opera needs help both on and off the stage.

Want to be in an opera, but can't sing? We need you!
Operas often need supernumeraries, or extras. Those are the folks who appear on stage in non-singing roles, but still enjoy the full experience of being cast in a live production. We are always interested in finding reliable volunteers who want to experience being on stage. Needs vary from opera to opera and we use a variety of ages, sizes and sexes, but remember casting a show is often very specific due to the demands of the costume, director, or show itself. Time requirements vary per opera, but the average commitment is:

For the three rehearsal weeks: 3 evenings each week plus a weekend day
For "tech week": 4-6 hours for five nights
For performances: 2-3 weekend nights over the three weeks of the Festival
Men of the ages 18-50 are the most needed. Small children with some stage experience are always encouraged to apply. Supers receive 2 tickets to a dress rehearsal of the show in which they appear.

Maybe the stage isn't for you. We need you, too!

Fort Worth Opera uses volunteers for a variety of jobs. Each department has different needs from party planning to stuffing envelopes to staffing the gift shop during the Festival. In the form below, please list any special skills you have that we can put to use (foreign languages, fund-raising, database knowledge, education, party planning, graphic design, etc.).
