Amahl And The Night Visitors

A Timeless Holiday Opera For The Entire Family

Gian Carlo Menotti Composer | Librettist

This December, celebrate the season with Fort Worth Opera and experience the magic of Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. This 45-minute, one-act opera tells the story of a wondrous star, three wise kings on a journey to Bethlehem, a mother with a heart of gold, and a disabled young boy named Amahl, who learns that compassion and a generous spirit can truly work miracles.

Since it first premiered on network television over six decades ago, Amahl and the Night Visitors has become one of the most frequently produced operas in the world and a perennial favorite. With its glorious music and inspiring message of forgiveness and redemption, this Christmas classic is a perfect holiday treat for the child in all of us.

A collaboration with Ridglea Presbyterian Church and Fort Worth Opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors stars Ethan Prickett as the young shepherd boy Amahl, Bronwyn White (The Mother), Joshua Friend (King Kaspar), Sam Parkinson (King Melchior), and Langelihle Mngxati (King Balthazar) as the gift-bearing Magi. Jared Welch plays the Page, Bridget Cappel is a featured soloist, Maestro Stephen Carey conducts the talented cast, and John Sauvey, Music Director of Ridglea Presbyterian Church, directs. This holiday production is part of FWOpera’s renewed commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships and bringing opera out into the community.
