Candidates for the Fort Worth Opera Studio should have completed master's level training, and have participated in at least one additional training program, such as a summer young artist program. Artists with similar experience will also be considered.
Non-managed artists who are seeking a mainstage audition with Fort Worth Opera must have completed their educational training and shown progression beyond university performances by having participated in young artist programs or other mainstage productions. Non-managed artists are general cast in secondary roles or in covers for Fort Worth Opera productions. (Please note: Managed artists should submit their materials through their agent, otherwise they will need to do the screening process. Managers will receive an audition announcement in early September regarding managed audition /dates.)
Singers interested a Studio or non-managed audition should submit an application using the YAP Tracker application form found here. Please specify what type of audition and which location you prefer for your audition, and only submit one application. All artists auditioning in New York must be available to sing at a screening audition and, if selected, at a call back audition. Materials for all auditions must be received by Fort Worth Opera by October 15, 2009. The audition schedule is generally completed shortly after the application deadline, and materials received after that time will only be considered as alternates.
The screening auditions will be a two- or three-minute, Broadway-style audition. Artists should be prepared with five or six selections, of which they may choose which part to sing first, and they may be asked to sing portions of the additional selections. Based on the screening audition, artists will be selected for a call back audition on December 4. There is a $10 fee to cover expenses for both auditions, and an accompanist will be provided for both days, although you may choose to use your own accompanist. Please do not send your fee with your materials – the audition fee will be collected on the day of the screening auditions.
Materials for Studio and non-managed auditions are currently being accepted, and all audition requests will be notified of the application status after the application deadline.
Please note: Audition requests must be submitted through the YAP Tracker application; audition requests will no long be accepted through email or regular mail.

Competition Background
The McCammon Competition is organized and executed by an all volunteer group who are members of The Opera Guild of Fort Worth. Kay Bolz is competition chair. The Guild's mission is "to foster the talents and careers of emerging young singers by providing an internationally acclaimed and recognized vocal competition."
In 2005 the Star-Telegram named the McCammon Competition one of the top ten classical music events of the year. The talent this year promises the stars will continue to shine on these new young voices.
The McCammon is known for introducing new talent to the opera stage around the world. Four finalists from the 2006 competition performed major roles in Fort Worth Opera's 2008 Festival. These include first place winner, Michael Todd Simpson, second place winner, Dongwon Shin, female encouragement and audience favorite, Ava Pine and semifinalist, Elizabeth Bennett. Other past winners of note are Vivica Geneaux, Kyle Ketelson, Richard Paul Fink and Frank Hernandez.
