Donations At Work

“We are able to contribute to the cultural and economic vibrancy of North Texas with critically-acclaimed productions and far-reaching educational programs because individuals and foundations believe in us and show it through donations and underwriting.”

FWOpera General Director

Fort Worth Opera would not exist without financial support from our community. We are able to contribute to the cultural and economic vibrancy of North Texas with critically-acclaimed productions and far-reaching educational programs because individuals and foundations believe in us and show it through donations and underwriting. Without the patronage of opera-lovers and those who believe the fine arts are essential to a successful city, Fort Worth Opera would no longer be “one of the most forward-looking companies in the U.S.” according to Heidi Waleson of The Wall Street Journal.

The Fort Worth Opera Festival occurs every spring, and the entire organization works year-round to make each Festival the not-to-be-missed event. However, we also believe that we have a responsibility to future generations to keep opera alive as an art form. To that end, we dedicate ourselves to enriching Fort Worth throughout the entire year using education programs and events for learners of every age. The Fort Worth Opera Studio, which is also our young artist training program, performs for nearly 40,000 students across Texas every year with our Children’s Opera Theatre for elementary students and our Opera Mythbusters for secondary student shows. We also welcome 1,000 middle and high school students to our final dress rehearsals at the Bass Hall for our Student Night at the Opera program. And for adults, we offer a variety of programs, like Opera Shots, Dinner with the Stars, and Behind the Curtain talks, to break down the barriers and show everyone that opera is a beautiful but accessible art form. Fort Worth Opera also seeks to find new and exciting ways to go deeper into our community and encompass people of every heritage into the world of opera.

Each year, our Festival employs hundreds of skilled artists ranging from opera performers to conductors, stage managers to set designers, choristers to costume designers, and beyond. The Fort Worth Opera Festival also drives tourism and spending in our community with our artists and patrons residing at local hotels, eating at local restaurants, and shopping in local stores. With 11 consecutive years of achieving a balanced budget, Fort Worth Opera stands on a hard-earned reputation of fiscal responsibility and stability. Contributed income makes up nearly 78% of our annual budget, and we are honored to have so many loyal supporters that continue to invest in our artistic and community endeavors. Your donation is as vital to us as we are to Fort Worth. Thank you in advance for your support.
