HATTIE MAE LESLEY RESIDENT ARTIST PROGRAM

December 6 & 7, 2022

BRIT Theatre at the Botanic Gardens of Fort Worth

December 12 & 13, 2022

Charles MacKay Studio at the National Opera Center

The application deadline is November 7, 2022

Resident Artist auditions are held annually in New York City, Fort Worth, as well as by digital recording submissions. Due to the number of applications received, and time constraints, not all applicants will be granted a live audition.

The period of employment for Lesley Resident Artists will run from September 5, 2023 - May 12, 2024. Resident Artists will perform in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex throughout this period, including comprimario roles in mainstage Fort Worth Opera productions. While in Fort Worth, Lesley Resident Artists will sing at various community, donor, social events, and perform recitals. Training will include regular coachings, master classes, language seminars, acting classes, and discussions with managers. Artists will also participate in masterclasses with established artists and agents brought in by Fort Worth Opera, to foster their artistic development and provide fresh perspectives on the business of singing.

RECORDED AUDITIONS: Candidates for the Resident Artist Program may submit a recorded audition in place of a live audition. Audio and video recordings are accepted via YAP Tracker and should be submitted no later than November 7, 2022 at 11:59 EST.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed application form via YAP Tracker

  • Current pdf copy of résumé

  • Digital color headshot (preferably in landscape format)

  • Two recorded arias of contrasting style (audio and/or video)

Fort Worth Opera will be using a YAP Tracker application for the Resident Artist Program. A live audition is not guaranteed, and a preliminary recording is required if you wish to be considered for a live audition. All recordings submitted under the "recorded audition" category will be heard. If chosen for a live audition, you may bring your own accompanist. If you wish to use an accompanist provided by Fort Worth Opera, a $20 accompanist fee will be assessed if granted a live audition. Singers granted a live audition in either Fort Worth or New York will be notified on or before November 18.

Please contact Dr. Charlene Lotz (charlene@fwopera.org), FWO Head of Music and Music Director for Children's Opera Theatre, with any questions about the application process.
