Internationally renowned Trinidadian soprano joins pianist Aaron Wajnberg for a one-night-only recital at Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU

Fort Worth Opera welcomes internationally renowned Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique to Fort Worth for a one-night-only concert on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU. Accompanied by distinguished Belgian pianist Aaron Wajnberg, De Bique will bring her luminous voice and thrilling artistry to Jeanine De Bique in Concert, an intimate recital experience later this month.

Described by OperaWire as “animated, joyful, and technically flawless,” De Bique is celebrated for her “light, starry voice that soars before landing on audiences’ ears like a musical meteor shower.” Gramophone has praised her “dazzling virtuosity,” while her performances have been described as “electrifying” and “fearlessly individual.” With impeccable technique, dazzling coloratura, and a powerful dramatic presence, De Bique brings extraordinary vocal command and emotional depth to every performance.

De Bique’s repertoire spans Baroque, Classical, and contemporary works, allowing her to move seamlessly between styles while bringing clarity and musical sensitivity to each performance. She has appeared with leading opera companies around the world, including San Francisco Opera, Paris Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Zurich Opera.

Her acclaimed debut album, Mirrors, recorded with Concerto Köln and released by Harmonia Mundi, further showcases her distinctive approach to Baroque repertoire. The album explores works by Handel alongside lesser-known music by his contemporaries through a vivid, character-driven program. It has been praised for its individuality and dramatic insight.

Joining De Bique for the Fort Worth Opera performance is pianist Aaron Wajnberg, recognized for his nuanced playing and thoughtful approach to collaboration. Wajnberg has performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and BOZAR in Brussels. His work in art song is marked by interpretive depth and a dynamic partnership with singers.

De Bique describes the recital as an exploration of the relationship between music and text, inviting audiences to consider the dialogue between composers and librettists throughout the program.

“This recital talks about the relationship between the librettist and the composer, and the space that they give each other to speak,” De Bique says. She also invites audiences to engage with the music personally, allowing each listener to find their own connection to the works. “I encourage the audience to find their own voices within this recital and within the text, and to discover something new,” she says.

In a time when shared artistic experiences can feel especially grounding, live performances offer an opportunity to step away from the everyday and reconnect through music. By bringing audiences and artists together for an intentional creative experience, the recital creates room to slow down, listen, and experience something new.

De Bique and Wajnberg are thrilled to make their Fort Worth debut, with Jeanine saying, “I am so happy to be coming to Fort Worth, especially with the honor of opening the 81st Season in recital. This is a significant moment for my pianist and me, as we will be making our debut in Fort Worth, and we’re happy to share this specific message of song with you.”
